Many people would judge Arnold Schwarzenegger many different way without knowing well about him. Doesn’t mean I know everything about him. What I can say though is that I did try to read a book about him at least and and I can see him differently after the book. This book inspired me a lot as an immigrant. It made me think “True myself” not to pretend being myself via others perspectives as an small immigrant. No speaking English well which is obvious. Speaking English well is an option not a destination since you just need to learn and practice. Still you can speak your own mother tongue much better than any English people.
많은 이들이 아놀드 스왈츠제네서에 대해서 그를 잘 알지 못하면서도 많은 다른 평가를 한다. 물론 나도 그에대해서 다 아는 것은 아니다. 그래도 그의 책을 한권쯤은 읽으려고 했다고 이야기를 할 수 있다. 이 책은 나에게 많은 교훈을 준 책이다. 특히 다른 이가 모든 이민자라는 모습 보다는 “진정한 나”라는 것에 대해서 말이다. 영어를 잘 하지 못한다는 것에대한 사실을 거부할 필요조차도 없다. 그것은 사실이니까 말이다. 영어를 잘 하지 못한다는 것은 선택일 뿐이지 운명은 아닌것이다. 왜냐하면 단지 배워서 열심히 연습을 하면 되는것이니까. 여전히 우리는 한국어를 영어를 쓰는 어떤 사람들 보다 잘한다는 것은 사실이다.

‘터미네이터’ 아놀드 슈워제네거(64)가 자서전을 낸다.
출판사인 ‘사이몬앤슈스터’는 22일 슈워제네거의 자서전 ‘토탈 리콜: 믿기 힘든 실화(가제, Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story)’의 출간계획을 발표했다.
‘사이몬앤슈스터’는 그의 자서전에 대해 “슈워제네거는 매우 다이나믹하고 흥미로운 삶을 살아온 이 시대의 영웅”이라면서 “현재 세대들이 가장 기다려왔던 자서전이 될 것”이라고 기대감을 고조시켰다.
슈워제네거는 이미 일년 전부터 자서전을 준비해 왔으며 이 책을 통해 보디빌더에서 배우로, 그리고 정치인으로 변신했던 그의 지난 삶을 있는 그대로 보여줄 것이라고 덧붙였다.
하지만 슈워제네거의 한 측근은 그가 마리아 슈라이버와 이혼하게 된 결정적인 이유였던 불륜 사건에 대해서는 자서전에서 밝히지 않을 것이라고 귀띔했다.
이 책은 슈워제네거가 영화 ‘익스펜더블 2(The Expendables 2)’의 촬영을 진행하는 기간에 출간될 것으로 예상된다.
한편 캘리포니아 주지사까지 지낸 슈워제네거는 지난 5월 가정부와의 불륜사건이 공개되면서 결혼 25년 만에 마리아 슈라이버에게 이혼 소송을 당했다.
